The 2014/15 season, was again, very successful for Glendowie College Rowing. . The season began with the U18 Girls crew winning the Head of the Waikato (schools) race during the Gallagher Shield weekend in Hamilton.
Glendowie College rowing also attended 13 regattas during the season with outstanding results at Head of Harbour, (Div 1 – 9 gold, 5 silver, 1 bronze) and NISSC (2 gold, 5 silver and 1 bronze medals, placing us 5th out of 88 schools).
Maadi Cup week was the highlight of the season with 23 of our 29 strong squad winning medals. The crews that medaled were:
1st – Boys U18 LW four – Zak Everitt, Ryan Jans, Rory Mallinson, Oliver Mallinson, cox Meg Rolton.
1st – Girls U16 eight – Claire Watson, Jasmine Brake, Rhiannon Koni-Webb, Mary Rose Millett, Sarah Everitt, Ellen Davis, Caitlin Brenton Rule cox Thomas Callaghan
2nd – Boys U 15 Eight – Daniel Cass-Galvez, Finlay Watson, Archie Porteous, William Heaps, James MacKenzie, Martin Jonkers, Jackson Wiggans, Sebastien Sachse-Nodder Cox Chelsea Gibson
3rd – Boys U15 Octuple – Crew as above.
Glendowie College ranked 7th overall out of 120 participating schools. This was the third season with Greg Reid as head coach. He was well supported by his team Alex Dawson (coach, novice boys), Cameron Watson (coach, novice girls) and Nick Tetley coming on board for his first season coaching. Glendowie College Rowing continues to grow and we are very lucky to have a large number of parents willing to be involved and supporting us through each season. Glendowie College Rowing squad enjoys being a part of the St Georges Club and working closely with the community. We are looking forward to the 2015/16 season and we are very grateful for their continued support.
